My lifelong passion of serving has enriched me with an experience of over 10 years in public leadership. My journey was defined by one of the proudest accomplishments of my life which was earning my BA and MA in Public Management and Policy, a field of study that has always been close to my heart.
EXECUTIVE BIO
Mrs. Dagmawit Moges Bekele is the Director of the Peace Fund Secretariat at the African Union Commission, a position she has held since March 2023. Prior to this, she served as the Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia from October 2018 to February 2023. After earning her BA in Public Administration and Development Management (PADM), Mrs. Moges worked as a Graduate Assistant Lecturer at Addis Ababa University. She later obtained her MA in Public Management and Policy (MPMP) from the same department and university. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of South Africa, advancing her knowledge and making a meaningful impact in the field of Management.
Her career in public service began as the General Manager of Kolfe Keraneyo Sub-City in the Addis Ababa City Government. She subsequently held positions as the Head of the Micro and Small Enterprises Development Bureau, Deputy Head of the Trade and Industry Bureau, and Deputy Head of the Capacity Building Bureau of the Addis Ababa City Government. Mrs. Moges has also served as a Deputy Mayor, Cabinet member, Communication Affairs Bureau Head. She also served as the Board Chairperson of Addis Ababa Mass Media Agency.
Mrs. Dagmawit Moges was a Cabinet member of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and a Member of Parliament. She currently serves as a Board member of Addis Ababa University and has previously held positions as the Board Chairperson of the Ethiopian Roads Authority, Woldiya University, and the Ethiopian Postal Service Enterprise. Additionally, she has served as a Board member of Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopian Petroleum Enterprise, Ethiopian Investment and Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
Recognized as one of the Top 100 most influential Women in Africa Supply Chain by the African Women in Supply Chain Association in partnership with Sincpoint, Mrs. Moges is celebrated for her leadership and impact on logistics and end-to-end supply chain operations across Africa. She is one of the 15 African Women who are Amujae Leaders in the 2nd cohort, Amujae Initiative Program led by the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development (EJS Center). Mrs. Moges was selected as one of the 21 Heroes 2021 for her achievements in transport success in 2020 and her contributions to successful and sustainable mobility initiatives in 2021 by the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).
Furthermore, she has been listed as one of 9to5chick’s Top 100 Career Women in Africa, recognized for advancing excellence and professionalism in Africa. Mrs. Moges was also named one of the 100 most reputable Africans in 2023. Smarter Mobility Africa has recognized her as a top woman in mobility in Africa, and she has received a Change Maker’s Leadership Award from Aviators Africa.
